“Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S.” Over 40 million people the our country are dealing with this disorder right now. So many of our brothers and sisters are dealing with captivity, but only 33% of them are getting treatment.
We have to stop letting the devil put certain things on us and then put ourselves and others down for it. There is such a negative connotation with going to therapy. As a matter of fact, there is a negative connotation with simply having anxiety and or depression, even if someone isn’t trying to treat it. However, without treating these mental issues, a person is being held captive to all that the freedom the Lord has in store for them. We are truly giving the devil power when we hide our problems and try to deal with them alone. This is something I have struggled with immensely, but spiritual community is a gift of freedom from the Lord. It is a way to peace through confession. We need to start using the gift he has given us.
Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Jesus came to set us free. I know we all may know that as head knowledge, but lets make this heart knowledge as well. He desires for our entire soul and being to be free from the sin of this world. We may never actually reach this point completely but it is what we are striving for until the day we see Jesus face to face.
I am the biggest worrier I know, so when I say all of this, I am speaking straight to my soul, as well as others. But what I want to declare is that we are not alone. The Lord speaks so much about encouragement and exhortation in the Bible, and I do not think that is a coincidence. Our Precious Heavenly Father is above the devil and his plans. He knows that one of the devils greatest tactics is making us feel isolated and alone. Our Father puts those lively verses in the Word for us to look to and live by in order to defeated the devil in every battle he challenges. So if we are dealing with something similar to anxiety or if we just have a basic struggle in life, we have to start telling our hearts that we are not alone. We were meant to walk through life depending first on Jesus and then on those He has placed around us. If you don’t have a safe haven of friends and family, find a church home. Find those people that the Lord has in store for you. I promise He has a plan for that area of you life.
If you don’t deal with these struggles, then I want you to realized that every single soul is desired by Jesus. Every single one. So if that person is worth Jesus’s sweet gift of salvation, then that person is also worth my words of encouragement. They are worth that time and time again! So if our sweet sister or brother is struggling with depression or anxiety or just plan worry, we need to partner with them. We need to give them those verbal words of affirmation and then we need to lift them up to the only True Healer that we know.
I honestly belief that He is the only way that our society can jump over the heartache of anxiety and depression.
I personally have struggled with anxiety for a few years now, and I have even been on medication for it. I can honestly say the most healing I have ever felt in that area of my
