“I do not give as the world gives”

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; peace I give you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

The world gives us money. The world gives us “fun”. The world gives us sex. The world gives us temporary pleasure. The world also gives us pain.

My God gives me abundantly life. My God gives me indescribable joy. My God gives me peace that transcends all understanding.

Sometimes life is frustrating. Why in the world would God want me to go through student loans? Or why would God let so many fall into the “fun” of sin? Why does God want us to watch our sweet brothers and sisters fall sometimes?

I honestly have no idea why God does everything He does. But if I did understand it, His mystery would fade. And His mystery is beautiful. But what I do know is John 14:27. I know that He has told my heart to look for the blessings of Christ, in different ways than material. Our Abba Fathers gives with an eternal value in mind.

I love looking at the similarities in parenthood on earth and our Good Father, because I firmly believe that He gave us an example of Him through parents on earth {or what we know earthly parents should look like, even if ours haven’t necessarily done that}. When I think of my mom and Christmas time, she isn’t going to give me something I can use for a day and I’m done. That would actually be sad. No, she’s going to get me clothes, shoes, books, and toys that I absolutely adore and will be using for a long time. She has a long-term purpose behind what she does.

So does God. Think about how short-term money feels to God. That He always was and always is. Money is like bad candy to Him. He would never give His children something so worthless. He gives us something we can use forever, something that brings us that much closer to the Kingdom of God.

Psalms 29:11 “The LORD gives strength to His people; the LORD blesses His people with peace”

He gives us a love letter written by Him. He gives us something that is alive and active and sharper than any double-edged sword to get through life. He gives us fruits beyond belief. He brings us freedom, and relieves bondage to the flesh.

And oh sweet Jesus, you bring us your grace. Your sweet mercy and grace and forgiveness. All of which bring us straight to Your salvation. A salvation that we can forever hold onto as be battle the world. Dear God help us to cling to Your Love today. Help us know the blessings of You and keep our eyes sobermindedly on You.

Colossians 3:15 “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful”

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 “But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then\, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

This is a picture of a peaceful and joyful heart. Dear Jesus help me love you with a childlike love today.
