This is a picture of Esmeralda and Laura. They live in Central Mexico in a place that is struck by poverty and an inaccurate outlook on Jesus. In this picture, it was dress up day, so don’t be fooled by their dresses, these are probably 3rd time hand-me downs that they get to wear once or twice a year. Despite their circumstance, they show joy in everything they do. And not only do they show joy, but they show and inexplainable amount of love to all of those around them. Their positivity glows, and everyone in their presence can see it. They shine for their Lord.
It is a proven fact that positivity matters. There is this thing in psychology called the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy, which in summary means if you think that we are going to fail this test because you are stupid, then you are going to probably fail it. I could sit here and type up a big explanation on why and how and all that but what really matters is positivity and living that out is fundamental.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Rejoice: (v) to be glad; take delight; to make joyful
So not only does Psychology show an extreme importance on being positive, but so does the more important subject matter- the Bible!
It is an important part of our Christian walk to trust in God and therefore be joyful in all circumstance, because we have peace in knowing that whatever happens is for the better good anyway (Romans 8:28).
Trust Him today. He has promised to walk with us through the valleys of the shadows of death. He has loved us since before we were spoken into creation. He will never forsake us!
John 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
I want to shine for Jesus. I was to take heart, because HE is my overcomer. Therefore, today I will rejoice. Rejoice with me.
