Chains Are Broken😇

So many times in my walk with Jesus I’ve had to remember the freedom He gave me when I gave my life to Him. The devil likes to keep us remaining in the feeling of captivity so that we stay selfishly worrying about ourselves instead of following the second greatest commandment-love your neighbor as yourself. To me, that means wanting that neighbor in the kingdom of Heaven with you, no matter how unlovable they seem to the world. Numerous places in His Word speak freedom over us, but Acts 5 does an amazing job at visually showing us the sweet freedom we can live with.

In Acts 5, the apostles started preforming many “signs and wonders” for the Lord which started to make the high priests and officials anger.

Acts 5:17-20

“Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But during the night an angel of the lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. ‘Go, stand in the temple courts,’ he said, ‘and tell the people all about this new life.'”

This is us. No doubt in my mind that this story lives on today. Sometimes it takes me forever to realize it, but there are people in the world who do not want us preaching the truth about Jesus. And they get mad. Even if people don’t, the devil and demons do. But Psalms 91 declares a covering of angels over us! Spiritual warfare is alive and real. As real as you and me! And I truly believe that angels roam this earth helping us further His kingdom. Yes, it is hard to wrap my mind around and yes it is a very new discovery that I have learned, so I surely don’t know half of what there is to know on the subject, but I do believe the bible. I do know it’s truth. Therefore, those chains that the devil likes to remind us of are broken and will continue to be even more destroyed until the day we are made complete in His sight.

imageActs 4:29-31 says

“Now Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants {us} to speak Your Word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and preform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.” That is so powerful. We have the authority through Jesus Christ to speak danger away, to walk among ground without fear- for there is no fear in love. We have the freedom to be on fire for Christ. That my friend is nothing less than magnificent.”

When I’m talking to people about freedom I always use the analogy that we are born with chains all over our body (our sin), but when we accept the Good Lord into our hearts, He comes and unlocks every single chain on us. Although, due to our stubborn human ways, it takes us our entire lives to continue to shake those chains off. He has already given us the freedom but sometimes we are hesitant to take it. We may not truly believe it’s ours or we may think we don’t deserve it. But we all deal with this is some form or fashion. But what that story in Acts tells us is that God knows we can’t do it alone. He created us for crying out loud, He knows our capabilities. And He never called us to walk this earth alone. No, but an angel comes (in many ways, shapes, and forms) or God gives us a supernatural strength, or an amazingly poimagewerful spiritual community. It whatever way pleases His will, whether we see it or not, He is there. And he declares us free. He declares that we have the ability to go preach His Word freely, despite what any person or law might say.

Peter and the other apostles were just ordinary men. They were fishermen, tax collectors, and whatever else. But they were just normal to the human eye. But God sees us all as extraordinary. And their WILLING hearts is what god used to work through them and save many souls. That’s one of the things I love about the book of Acts. It records so many numbers of so many souls that heard and accepted the word of Jesus because of some ordinary humans aligned their hearts with an extraordinary GOD! But a willing heart must first know the freedom of broken chains, the their limits through Christ are unseeable.

I often find myself reading God’s word and seeing all the amazing works done wishing things like that could happen today. They can. They truly can. It just takes knowing what you worth in God’s eyes. It takes knowing His power that dwells inside of you through the Holy Spirit. The power that declares freedom and ability.
